Terms of Engagement

Terms & Conditions

Agreement and clinical guidelines between the Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (RNTP) and the Client.

Standards of practice governed by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance

Part 1: The Nutritional Therapy Descriptor & Clinical Scope

Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance, and individual care. Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (RNTP) assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional imbalance and help support the body towards maintaining health.

Nutritional therapy is recognised as complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a "one size fits all" approach.

Important Clinical Distinctions

  • Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with 'red flag' signs or symptoms to their medical professional.
  • RNTPs are not permitted to diagnose, or claim to treat, medical conditions.
  • Recommendations are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • The degree of benefit obtainable from nutritional therapy may vary between individuals with similar health problems.

Client Understanding & Responsibilities

The Client understands and agrees to the following:

  • You are responsible for contacting your GP regarding any health concerns, medical conditions, or diagnostic investigations.
  • If you are receiving treatment from your GP, or any other medical provider, you must inform them about nutritional and supplement recommendations provided by your RNTP to avoid potential drug-nutrient interactions.
  • You must notify your RNTP of any medical diagnosis, prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, herbal medicines, or supplements you are taking.
  • If you are unclear about any agreed nutritional programme, supplement dosage, or duration, you should contact your RNTP promptly for clarification.
  • Recommendations are strictly personal to you and must not be shared with or used by others.
  • Recording consultations using any form of electronic media or audio/video recording is not permitted without the prior written consent of both the client and RNTP.
  • For online or telephone appointments, it is your responsibility to ensure you have a working internet connection and suitable environment. If you cannot connect as scheduled, the appointment is considered a 'no show' and is billed in full.

Part 2: Fees, Appointments & Cancellation Policy
